Lucie and I met while working on Masters degrees at UMBC. She's from the Czech Republic and her parents live in Prague (or Praha, as its spelled in Czech). It was fantastic! The best way to see a city is to see it with a native. I told Lucie that I would follow wherever she led! And she led me ALL over town! After the first four days we were both exhausted, but we had seen so much! And the food! Oh, the food! Lucie's mom filled me with so much good Czech food, I might not have to eat for a month! Lucie and her family were amazing hosts! I felt so at home! Thank you so much! Dekuji!
What a beautiful city. I think I'm in love! Architecturally, the centuries have been very kind to Prague, particularly the 14th, 19th, and very, very early 20th. It is a jewel-box of treasures: historical and cultural. Jan Hus, the very first martyr of the Reformation, spent most of his career as a theologian there. Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni" premiered there. Charles IV, the Emperor, made it the center of his empire. I would spend this entire blog gushing about my new city love-affair... but you don't want to hear me get mushy, you want to see pictures! So without further ado, here they are! Enjoy!
